About . . .

Influenced most by animals and nature, Madeleine Mathis (MadeleiZoo) implements a handmade feel in her animations.  What drives many of her projects is curiosity, an enthusiasm to experiment with unusual materials and techniques, at the very least to see what will happen.  She plays with any and every kind of animation, from hand-drawn to stop motion to compositing in a newfangled computer.  She often composes and performs the soundtracks for her films via her ever-growing hoard of novelty musical instruments.

Madeleine interned in the puppets department at Screen Novelties during the production of the stop motion TV special "Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas" and graduated from the California Institute of the Arts in 2015 with a BFA in experimental animation.  She currently makes freelance animations and runs an Etsy shop from Colorado with her scruffy dog, Kazoo.
